Programme: I’m a celebrity get me out of here!

Audience appeal: It is the only show which is set ‘in the jungle’ in Australia and people enjoy it as the members of the show are voted for by the audience to do challenges which are usually not very nice. The presenters Ant and Dec are also very popular as people enjoy their wit and humour and the way that they present the show and have done for many years since 2002
Typical character types in the show: There is always a mixture of male and female contestants within the show, they are all varied in their personalities and have their own quirks and character types.

Viewing figures - what can we read into it?: Currently, there are around 13.7 million viewers year on year with an increase of four percentage points.

How much are the general public the stars?: The general public are not at all the stars, the producers of the show always ensure they have very well-known/famous people joining the show. This is one of the shows traits, as viewers enjoy watching people they know and have seen on the TV or in the public eye before.
 
Have there been any issues around representation?: The show doesn't set itself out to purposely represent every single stereotypical person. However, for the first time this year (2019) was the first year to have a transgender female on the show, Caitlyn Jenner who is famous from the Kardashian and Jenner families, entered the show and was very popular with the audience.
 Has this programme challenged or reinforced dominant representations?: the show has reinforced celebrity culture and additionally, many people have made other programmes featuring the celebrities due to them having increased popularity whilst being on the show.
 Who made this programme and how successful has it been:  The producers of the show are Richard Cowles, Chris Brogden and Becca Walker. The show is extremely successful, it is often a ratings winner for ITV due to having over 9 million viewers each series.
